I know all of you patiently wait for me to edit your photos and when I run behind you are so gracious.  Well I just wanted to let you know I am in the same boat you are.  Leslie photographed the kids last week and I am DYING to see the images.  But I will patiently wait until she blogs one, but until then I will blog stalk her! 

Can it be true?... and Facebook

Yes, it is...I am officially caught up with editing...not anything else, but with editing.  Did I say editing.  When is the last time I have said, "I have caught up with editing!"  Ok...enough said.

You don't really care what I have to say, right?  Your just here for the pics! 

OH...before I get all ADD...if you haven't joined my on facebook...come visit me.  You can just search for nikki loehr or Moxie Photography Studio...I have 2 accounts...b/c well at first I didn't know what I was doing (that was so last year) and well the rest is a long story!

SO why go on about FACEBOOK...because...I am instituting, "facebook" fridays.  My husband asked me the other day how many people on facebook used my images.  WELL, really I don't know, but I think ALOT!  So that inspired me to come up with "FACEBOOK FRIDAYS!"  Every friday...well almost every friday.  I will take Facebook photos are what I will call a super mini headshot session for anyone who needs to spruce up ther page!  The Cost????  $49.  The GOODS????  3-5 images on CD.  Want more...then dang it...just scheule a regular session or get one of our senior portrait packages!

A really great 5 year old and what is on my plate...

Here is what is cooking on the MacPro right now...  Baby Jaxson, Briana and Todd, a longhorn edit (ugh, I hope I don't loose my OU alumni status over this!) and Logan DeWitt.

An Awesome 5 year old...

Matty is really one of the best behaved kids that I have ever photographed (ok readers, if I photographed your kids...don't say..."why didn't she say that about my child!).  We had a really fun day at the studio and he was SOOOOOOO cute in his suit.  Oh, Dee-ann...your little guy is growing up.

(photographers note...as most of you know...I shot very contrasty (is that a word!)  So this pic is SOC, it is a little bright on his face...but I love it anyways.)

Matty looking so grown up...this is also SOC...but of course I am using studio lighting and Chimera Med. Softbox. (hmmm. this image is much brighter on my screen than it looks on the web.)  Its tough on photographers today as we are having to adjust our images for web, screen and print.

This image is soft, but the expression is so cute...aren't soft images making a comeback? ;-)

Confession of an "email" packrat and One Lovely Couple's Engagement photos

Ok...to start of...I TIVO'd an episode of Oprah and I made a pledge to get organized.  So your probably thinking I am living and working in Chaos...well, as a matter of fact...yes I am.  But the real issue is that my email inbox contains 3,655 emails.  I guess I have an issue with the delete key!  But doesn't it always seem like once you delete that 6 month old email...that 2 days later you are scavenging for it!  So my new goal for March is to get that email box CLEANED up!  And then maybe I won't be spending time searching for that email I forgot to respond to.

Now on to the good stuff...

Many of you know that I am not a wedding photographer and really don't have any ambition to be one, even though I LOVE wedding and wedding photography.  But I have recently done quite a few engagement shoots and this one was like a dream....ok if you are a photographer reading this...image out of the fog...walks this drop dead gorgeous couple and guess what?  You get to photograph them.  Yep...wasn't a dream.  So after spending the morning with them, I felt like I had just hung out with old friends...we really had a lot of fun...Well, I think we did, right? ;-)

This couple really made me look at "love" a different way and if I was a parent...which I am...I would be ecstatic about the upcoming marriage of this couple.

AND NOT ONLY THAT, but Todd eats Lefse.  (ok, not off my rocker..keep reading)

Most people don't know that I am 1/2 Norwegian and that I was raised in that tradition.  One of the things we eat during the holidays is Lefse.  Think of it like a potato tortilla.  UMMMMMM...it is so good.  So come to find out Todd is 1/2 Norwegian also...small world.  I know...shut up and show you some pictures...

I will try and make a long story short...but a few months ago jenni's friend called from CA to buy her a gift certificate for a session.  GREAT friend isn't she.  Well, I never heard from jenni and since it was a surprise...I never had jenni's info.  So jenni finally called and she was ready for her maternity....oops I mean newborn session!  yes...it was supposed  to be  maternity session, but as you know, time flies by and before ya know it...the baby is here!  No harm done...I was game for the Newborn.  BUT then I threw a hitch in it and had to postpone because I did not calculate which weekend was the superbowl...so jenni, kindly let me reschedule.

So on to the pics!

First one...Well, yes, I know I cut the dad's mouth off...but this is how it was shot and for some reason, I just really loved this shot...so say what you want about it! (processing...I split toned it.)

Look at those eyes...this is pretty much straight out of the camera...we had a reflector bouncing light and I just adjusted the contrast.  Isn't he a cutie ;-)

And this was a last minute and I mean LAST as it was the last frame I took.  We were finished, but when I saw this...I knew I had to take just one last shot.  Now this is SOC! and the window is camera left.

Random thoughts...

Random thoughts to wrap up and start the new week.

1. Why does chocolate cake and milk HAVE to go together?  I just overdosed on a piece of chocolate cake and now I need milk...problem...Lactose intolerance.
2. CLARITON D...for years I have suffered from allergies, but in the past year I have had several reactions to the drugs prescribed to me...UGH..thus I spent this weekend as a ZOMBIE.
3. CARS..WHY oh WHY must it be so hard to purchase a new car.  Do they really think we are that dumb.  There are a few places in town that I will say...buyer beware.
4. Kids grow up so fast.  Our little man will be 2 in May, we can't believe it.  So for those of you that have been laid off the job and are now staying at home with your little one....just think of it as a "Blessing in disguise," because for me the first 1 year is one not to miss.  NOW when they become toddlers...thats when you want to run out the door ;-)

Here is our man...I found this when I was clearing off CF cards.  it was taken at my parents house...it was very overcast that day.  He is on his first PowerWheels 4 wheeler.  Just like his Grandpa's grown up one!

ALSO>>>BE watching for our KID ONLY special coming up in March...it will be a great time to document your little one that has grown up.  (hint, hint...its a really good special!)

Happy Valentines Day.

I hope everyone had a great valentines day.  I had a funny story to tell, but it is 12:25 (yes, a.m.) and I am up baking goodies for my kids parties tomorrow.  (LONG STORY for another day)

Here is a picture I did last year.  Had great ideas for this year...but as usual the days slipped by!

PHOTO INFO:  Taken with red seamless, canon 5d, Dyna-lite 4040 with an Octabank and Beauty dish. (I rotate the 2 for main and fill...just whatever I am feeling that day!)  The only retouching I did...was to take out some of the spots from dirt on my sensor.

Maternity Photo Shoot in San Antonio.

I am not sure why I love doing maternity shots so much...because before I was ever pregnant and even when I was pregnant with my first child...I hardly knew they existed.  Which makes me highly disappointed I never did any belly shots with my first child

Here is a pictures SOC.  I keep looking at it, thinking..."it really doesn't need a touch up, does it?"

I had a great time with this couple.  We couldn't accomplish what we wanted to during the time alloted...so they were very nice to take a break for lunch and come back to finish the shoot.  Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy, you guys!

This photographer LOVES newborns...

because really each one is so unique and this little guy did not disappoint.  I could not BELIEVE how strong he was for 3 weeks old.  It was incredible.  His parents are dentists...so this shot below is probably not one they will frame...but I just thought it was so funny ;-)

I know....probably not your favorite...but don't you think it is so fitting for the shirt.  I really had hoped to get something cute with this shirt, but poor little guy was so worn out.

But here is how LOVELY he really is...

But then Again, I have to ask...what is with the "gang sign,"  I mean, come on little guy...give a sooner a break!

 

Photographer's NOTE:  wondering the difference between window light and studio light?  Well the 2 shots above were shot 1.  window light (cooler in temp) and 2. the second was shot with a dyna-lite strobe in a chimera med. softbox (much warmer in tone).  yOU be the judge!  Both shot with Canon 5D Mark II  50mm 1.2 lens.

FOR every day that goes by...

I unintentionally neglect my blog.  But life happens right.  So two days after my dog died, my daughter split her head open and off to the ER we went. She ended up with 4 staples in the back of her head. To top it off I then had a Memory card go bad, which luckily got recovered.  So if you are not using recoverable memory...you should start now.  I use SanDsik Extreme III and IV and only during my most important shoot has something gone wrong.  NO, it did, but the good part is that I own memory cards that actually can be recovered in cases such as this.

Then there is the superbowl, which I had to get ready for, which I was not ready for and had to leave a day late.  BUT I made it and that is all that counts! OF course I was told only SMALL cameras were allowed, so I was bummed that when we got there...tons of people got in with digital SLR's ;-(

SO digital elph and iPhone were my equipment of choice!

Our tickets were 4th row on the 50 yard line...so yes, these pictures ARE that close to the field.  My elph only has 4x zoom and iPhone no zoom.
